1. How to apply

Applicants can apply for an Apprenticeship direct to Lookfantastic or by talking to their careers (Connexions) personal adviser. Due to changes in funding this Provider is only able to offer government funded apprenticeships at this time.

2. Are all applicants interviewed and if so where/how does this happen?

Applicants are interviewed either at the workplace (if already employed) or at a local careers office or at one of the 3 Lookfantastic Training sites in Hove and Worthing.

3. Does training take place at the work place or at other places as well?

Can be 100% at work or a mixture of work and training away from work at an Lookfantastic Training centre.

4. Can a training programme be started at any point in the year?

Apprentices can start working for their employer and sign up for an apprenticeship at any time.

5. How much do apprentices normally get paid?

No less than 95 pounds, employers are encouraged to pay at least 100 pounds per week. National Minimum Wage guidelines are followed where applicable.

6. Are all apprentices employed from the start by their companies they train with?

Yes

7. What help is there in finding a job?

Lookfantastic Training can help applicants in finding a job. Lookfantastic Training works with over 120 employers who are always looking for keen and enthusiastic staff and with their specialist knowledge of the industry Lookfantastic Training can help applicants in securing the right job to support their training and future career.

8. Do you keep lists of current job vacancies?

Yes

9. Are training programmes available to those people that are already employed?

Yes

10. Are applicants referred by Connexions Personal Advisers considered for training programmes?

Yes

11. Is it possible for applicants to be kept on a waiting list if a place on a training programme is not immediately available?

Yes

12. How should employers make contact?

Employers can make contact by phone, e-mail, web site or in writing. Lookfantastic Training will talk to the employers about their training and recruitment requirements and either help them to recruit new staff or train their existing employees.

13. Is there any charge to employers?

No

14. What other services are offered?

Private short courses for beginners and refresher hairdressing, customer services, sales and management - all delivered in the context of the hairdressing industry.

15. Are there any special entry requirements for the apprenticeships available through this organisation?

There are no qualifications needed to do a hairdressing apprenticeship through Lookfantastic Training. Although it is useful for applicants to have Maths and English GCSE grades as they can count towards some key skills work, it is not essential. Due to changes in funding this Provider is only able to offer government funded apprenticeships at this time.
