1. How to apply

Applicants can apply for an Apprenticeship direct to SIGTA or by talking to their careers (Connexions) personal adviser.

All applicants are assessed and informally interviewed either at work or at the SIGTA premises in Hove.

3. Does training take place at the work place or at other places as well?

All training and assessment takes place at work except a two-day induction course which is delivered at the SIGTA premises in Hove. Key Skills workshops and testing also take place on the premises in Hove. Technical certificate training takes place at a local college for one day each week.

Employers can make contact by phone, e-mail, web site or in writing. We will talk to the employers about their training and recruitment requirements and either help them to recruit new staff or train their existing employees.

Yes, this will depend on the age of the apprentice at the start of the apprenticeship and the programme being followed. Full details will be provided to the employer prior to commencement.

SIGTA facilitates a leardirect centre and we also provide a range of short courses for employers and the general public covering health and safety, technical and commercial training and supervisory and management training.

15. Are there any special entry requirements for the apprenticeships available through this organisation?

Depending on the level of apprenticeship being offered, it is likely that applicants will need to demonstrate a minimum level of prior educational attainment. Such as, GCSE passes or equivalent qualifications. Specific requirements will be given with each advertised apprenticeship.
