Previously inadequate training options for young people
interested in technical trades led to a dearth of good recruits
in the construction and engineering industries, according to
technical director Chris Harvey-Jones.
Requiring a workforce with a range of technical skills, Mr
Harvey-Jones has found that Apprenticeships are a
good source. Two of its skilled workers have already gained
their training and qualifications through
Apprenticeships, and the firm is currently training five more.
"Offering Apprenticeships has certainly helped our
recruitment situation, giving interested school leavers a direct
route via our industry training supplier and showing that we are
committed to training suitable applicants," said Mr Harvey-Jones.
"Employers have nothing to lose from
Apprenticeships, only a lot to gain."
