1. How to apply

An application form is available on the Heathercroft website, from reception or upon request via letter or telephone call. Once completed a member of staff will contact the applicant to arrange an interview/induction date.

2. Are all applicants interviewed and if so where/how does this happen?

Applicants who are already in employment will be interviewed at their place of work. Applicants applying for courses that are run from the centre and require a work placement for a stated number of days per week, will be invited for interview at the centre.

3. Does training take place at the work place or at other places as well?

For learners who are employed, all training will take place at their place of employment. Learners undertaking some child care, health and social care or I.T. Courses will receive training at the training centre and at their work placements.

4. Can a training programme be started at any point in the year?

Training can start at any time for most courses.

5. How much do apprentices normally get paid?

Employed learners will earn a salary that has been agreed by their employer. Other learners may be entitled to payments through the Education Maintenance Allowance, Adult Learning Grant or a training grant.

6. Are all apprentices employed from the start by their companies they train with?

Not all apprentices are employed at the start of their training but should aim to be by the end of training. Learners on Programme Led Apprenticeships should be employed within 6 months on the programme.

7. What help is there in finding a job?

Non-employed learners on a Programme Led Apprenticeship will be encouraged to find employment and will be supported to apply for jobs and write C.V’s

8. Do you keep lists of current job vacancies?

No

9. Are training programmes available to those people that are already employed?

Yes

10. Are applicants referred by Connexions Personal Advisers considered for training programmes?

Yes

11. Is it possible for applicants to be kept on a waiting list if a place on a training programme is not immediately available?

We will always try to make room for all applicants who are suitable for the course. A short wait may sometimes be necessary.

12. How should employers make contact?

Employers can contact the centre whether by phone, fax or e-mail. Heathercroft Training Services Ltd will talk to employers about their training needs.

13. Is there any charge to employers?

At the moment there is no charge to employers when learners are eligible to receive full Government Funding.

14. What other services are offered?

We currently offer training in the following areas: Health and Social Care 2, 3 and Level 4 Management levels 3 and 4 Child Care Learning and Development Level 2 and 3 I.T, Business Admin and Customer Services

15. Are there any special entry requirements for the apprenticeships available through this organisation?

There are no set entry requirements for apprenticeships. All applicants will be required to undertake an initial assessment which will include a Basic Skills Assessment. Anyone with a degree or equivalent qualification would not be entitled to funding.
